πŸ“£ New Feature: USMLE-Style Scoring Now Available for Selected Qbanks!

    medium

We’re excited to introduce a new feature that brings your quiz experience even closer to the real USMLE exam β€” your scores are now displayed using a 3-digit scaled system, just like the official Steps!

    🎯 What’s New?

    • βœ… Estimated USMLE 3-digit Score (120–280+)
    • πŸ“Š Correct / Incorrect / Omitted breakdown
    • πŸ“ˆ Raw % and Z-Score
    • 🧠 Peer Comparison Based on Question Difficulty
    • πŸŽ“ Performance Band (e.g., Above Average, Needs Improvement)
    • πŸ” Visual Score Gauge

    πŸ§ͺ Where Does This Apply?

This feature is exclusively available for the following USMLE Qbanks on our platform:

    • β€’ UWorld
    • β€’ AMBOSS
    • β€’ BoardVitals
    • β€’ USMLERx

❗ Note: You must select questions from one of the above Qbanks to receive a USMLE-style scaled score.

πŸ” How Is Your Score Calculated?

Our system uses a standardized approach that mirrors real USMLE scoring:

    • Raw Performance: We calculate your correct, incorrect, and omitted answers.
    • Question Difficulty: Each question has statistics from other users β€” we know how many got it right, so we can measure how hard each question is.
    • Expected Performance: We compute the average difficulty of the questions you received to estimate what a typical user would score on that quiz.
    • Z-Score (Relative Performance): Your raw percentage is compared to the expected performance to calculate a Z-score β€” a measure of how far above or below average your score is.
    • USMLE Scaled Score: Your Z-score is scaled to match official USMLE score distributions:
      • Step 1 Mean: 230 (historical)
      • Step 2 CK Mean: ~245
      • Step 3 Mean: ~232
    • Pass marks are automatically taken into account (e.g., 198 for Step 3).
    • Final Score: Your score is displayed along with a visual score gauge and insights β€” so you not only see your score, but understand it.

    🎁 Why This Matters

    • βœ… You get a realistic sense of your readiness
    • 🎯 The score adjusts for question difficulty
    • πŸ“ˆ It helps you track progress more meaningfully

πŸ“Œ Try it now by completing a quiz β€” your detailed USMLE-style score report will be ready as soon as you finish!
